The Empowering Neurologist – David Perlmutter, MD and Dr. Stephanie Seneff

I recently had the great pleasure of discussing Glyphosate and its impact on human health with Dr. Stephanie Seneff of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Seneff’s work focuses on the role of toxic chemicals and how they can affect the environment, and importantly, your health.

We spoke at length about her work, including the potential link between conventional farming, pesticide use, and autism. I found this talk to be an invigorating and very informative conversation, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

There is some research to suggest alpha lipoic acid helps to at least partially heal the brain from glyphosate damage. Co enzyme q also comes to mind, as well as sufficient hydration, intermittent fasting, and probiotics already mentioned. Whatever helps the body to detoxify.

Thank you so much for this interview. Dr. Seneff is amazing, I really appreciate her work.

    • David Perlmutter

She’s absolutely on the cutting edge.

Dr Perlmutter, I am one of your admirers. Re Autism, I don’t know anybody with Autism but the info keeps coming into my life, I have read a lot about this topic. There is a treatment protocol for Autism which helps the kids live symptom free. It is organic food, grain free, low in sugar, Paleo diet fits well, all home cooked avoiding additives in industrial frozen, canned and dried foods, adding probiotics, prebiotics, supplementing with vitamins/minerals. Fecal matter transplant may also work to build a better gut flora, but to my surprise I just read that medical doctors are not allowed to use it on their patients b/c this ancient cure is now under revision as a health treatment. But luckily ppl are creative and have figured out how to do it as an enema in the comfort of their own home, using specimen from family members or friends (with known health history). I just also learned that Bipolar Disorder may be a result of Glyphosate too. Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD, from England said recently in an interview she has patients with different mental diseases such as ADD, ADHD, ASD, Bipolar, depression who all do well on her GAPS diet protocol (book on amazon and elsewhere). A former coworker of mine, her 30 yr old son just got diagnosed with Bipolar and b/c the family did not find help here in the US, they are now going home to India to talk to an Ayurveda doctor. They don’t have the diagnosis Bipolar in India so it will be interesting to see the result. I recommended the Cleveland Clinic. We are all in it together b/c w/o kids humanity won’t survive. Sick kids who don’t reproduce will be the end of us all. Thank you for all you do! 🙂

An absolutely fabulous interview. Here in California Roundup has to label the product as a carcinogen. Unfortunately, you can still find it very easily in stores garden section. I grew up in what I call the armpit of California, the Imperial Valley. It is a farming community with a large population of Hispanics. The MTHFR mutation is very common among Hispanics. A perfect storm for for us, MTHFR and roundup sprayed liberally on farm fields. Autoimmune disease, allergies, diabetes are all to common. Dr. Seneff’s work is ground breaking and needs to be better known.

Bravo to you both, for your courage, commitment and scientific integrity, and for your willingness to stand up and say it as it is. And we, the viewers CAN do something about it – as you both have said – by simply be willing to pass on this info to as many others we are in contact with as possible.
People-Power does work… but it also does need us all to become involved; even if this is no more than being willing to share this link far and wide!

Dr. Zack Bush has a product called restore4life- absolutely amazing research on this product.
Absolutely amazing resource by this triple board-certified physician. I myself am a physician
Whose daughter was diagnosed with MS two years ago. I have researched autoimmunity extensively.
    Restore4life
    Offsets roundups effect.
Dr. Perlmutter I would love for you to interview on your podcast Dr. Bush I think all would be interested

How can one obtain a transcript of this interview with Dr. Seneff. A number of unfamiliar terms were used. I am one who learns best by reading and looking up information about unfamiliar terms, Hope you can help. Sincerely, Margot Walk (margot@margotwalk.com)

Autism is increasing in all Races and ethnicities throughout the world, except in Rural communities where there are no GROCERY STORES!!! It’s not Genetic it’s world wide poisoning…… STOP buying CORN, WHEAT, SOY, CHICKEN, BEEF, PORK from Monsanto!!! Do not give them more MONEY to destroy future generations. Pass it along.

  • Curt_Nelson

Autism must have an environmental cause because it’s increasing? No. It only seems to be increasing because what used to be considered shyness or oddness or whatever are now being diagnosed as belonging in the autism spectrum disorder. It’s as simple as that – the definition of autism was greatly expanded, so its incidence seems to have gone way up (to a person who’s doctorate is in computer science/electrical engineering).

I love Dr Stephanie Seneff! She and her colleagues reviewed Monsanto’s own studies and proved they are at fault for poisoning millions including myself. Anyone who eats processed foods is asking for trouble. Go certified organic and grow your own. Know your sources of meats including fish. Stop buying and using chemicals in your yard and garden. People went without them for thousands of years until the industries convinced us we need them. We do not! Thank you Dr Seneff.

fabulous interview with an extremely intelligent woman.

  • Dr Seneff is one of our autism heroes. Thank you for this interview. My son is now an aerospace engineer. His recovery wasn’t miraculous but resulted from getting proper medical care. His recovery story is now a book called I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE. All profits from my book go to spread the word that autism is TREATABLE! Thank you for interviewing Dr Stephanie Seneff. Her work is integral to this story. We must eat organic because there are too many gaps in risk assessment.

When assessing pesticides for safety, all regulators (US EPA, EU EFSA, WHO/FAO):
    1. Use private unpublished studies to arrive at our ADI/RfD – Frequently the key studies are decades old.
    2. Ignore 21st century science regarding the endocrine system – do not require studies regarding the endocrine system – always dose much, much higher
    3. Do not consider subtle, long term (chronic) effects at environmentally relevant levels
    4. Ignore the gut microbiome
    5. Use outdated protocols and guidelines set by industry.
    6. Consider a child equivalent to a 15kg adult – ignoring the critical development windows that make our babies, foetuses, kids and teenagers more vulnerable
    7. Do not dose test rodents in the first trimester of pregnancy in developmental studies

The pesticides glufosinate and dicamba (among others) are slated to replace glyphosate.

The entire process is faulty. It is very hard to get this information in conventional farming magazines, farmers using spray regimes are sick too – but conventional farming magazines frequently make biological or organic farming seem ‘too hard’ for busy overwhelmed farmers. Which is why consumer led demand is so important and powerful.

Dr Perlmutter, when we were kids, perhaps an cereal or oilseed crop might have one run of an insecticide over it, however today it is normal to use seeds treated with (neurotoxic) neonicotinoid, spray a fungicide (or 2), insecticide (or 2), then finish off the crop with a herbicide desiccant such as glyphosate or diquat.

No wonder our kids are so sick. Thank you for all you do.

Seneff is a pioneer and someone that we all need to take very very seriously. Her work can no longer be ignored. The opposition that she has faced reminds me of the tobacco industry’s efforts to mislead the public on the health effects of smoking in the 1990’s. Just like the smoking industry, Monsantos continues to fight any attempts to warn the public of potential health risks from their products. How long will the US continue to support a substance that harms human being? Instead of “cancer by the carton” it’s now “toxicity by the spray.” When will the public take notice?

  • Jeff Robinson

Hi David, I’m from New Zealand, and yes there is wide spread use of primarily roundup here, in fact our dairy industry states that it is BEST PRACTICE to spray a paddock of grass, then when browned of, bale it for haylage, they also put cattle into sprayed paddocks to clean them out!

Little do the remember DDT … Dr. Seneff .. I am sure all the documentation you will need is in the files that were use to STOP DDT … sounds like the same thing …

The Chemical industry (aka Big Pharma) is in such a hurry to make money, they overlook their responsibility to human society … in their need to find and market “Patentable Chemicals”.
