Sophia had adopted a very Grain Brain-friendly diet some time ago, but her success is just further evidence that this lifestyle really does work. – Dr. Perlmutter I’ve been eating all-organic for 14 years now, but starting about 2 years ago, I stopped eating wheat products and noticed a steep reduction in knee pain and hip pain within about a month. Hip arthritis runs in my family, so I was thrilled that something as simple as avoiding wheat could help so much. Then, about a year ago, I eliminated all grains (except the occasional quinoa side dish and a semi-annual pizza from the best place on earth), and I greatly reduced other carbs, too – I have about 1/2 cup of black beans on occasion. Still, very little to no pain. The most I have is very mild stiffness when I stand after my 60-minute commute a few times per week. Thank God for telework! Also, I hardly ever eat sugar (just very dark chocolate twice a week). And, just last week, I also stopped adding honey to my herbal tea. A big loss! But I trust I’ll be the better for it. Ah yes, for the past eight months or so, I walk and jog about 4-5 times per week for about 30-60 minutes. All in all, I think I’m feeling pretty good, though my integrative doctor said my LDL is too high (159). I most heartily, enthusiastically endorse a grain-free, sugar-free, organic-foods only, active way of life! I eat lots of organic raw and/or steamed veggies, some fruit, organic poultry, wild salmon, rainbow trout, and wild rice now and then. What great dishes I’ve come up with, too! I’m so much better off now!
