Many of you might think I would be down on Halloween. From the bowls of candy that get passed around, to the binge snacking in the wee hours of the morning, Halloween is certainly not the best day for our nation’s collective health. However, I don’t want you to think the Grain Brain diet is without its perks. There are plenty of sweets you can enjoy on this night of treats and trickery. The take home message is that while the recommendations below do contain carbs, if you are careful in terms of limiting your consumption, you won’t become the party pooper.
Here are some treats you could consider enjoying, or convincing your kids to trade in their candy for:
- Just a few squares of dark chocolate (>70%)
- Strawberries dipped in dark chocolate (>70%)
- Apple slices sprinkled with stevia and cinnamon
- Pumpkin Chia Pudding
