Preventing Obesity: The Myth of Calorie Counting – with Dr. Fung

What should we eat? I ask this question in the context of the incredible rates of obesity that we are now seeing, virtually worldwide. Today we will spend time with Dr. Jason Fung author of the book The Obesity Code. This is a landmark book that powerfully lays out why we are continuing to gain weight. It dispels the notion that dietary fat threatens to make us gain weight as well as the unfounded idea of calories in versus calories out as an explanation for why we gain weight. Dr. Fung clearly focuses on the importance of the hormone, insulin, in terms of obesity, and certainly in terms of diabetes as well. He outlines a very straightforward plan that is in perfect alignment with current science. This interview is one of the most fundamental as a relates to the science of weight loss and regaining control over our blood sugar.

Dr. Jason Fung is a Canadian nephrologist and a world-leading expert on intermittent fasting and low carb, especially for treating people with type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Fung graduated from the University of Toronto and completed his residency at the University of California, Los Angeles. He lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
