I discovered the Grain Brain program in August 2014. I happened on a PBS screening of your plan. I recorded it and still have it on my recordings list. That began my incredible journey.
I was 5’2” and 220 lbs. This was pretty scary. My waist measured 60” and my hips were also 60”. I had more or less been in this situation since the age of 35 (at a present age 66). I had the typical helpless story, many different tries, much successfully unsuccessful results.
I liked the sound of everything Dr. Perlmutter had researched and was hooked on trying my best to have this be my best and final try. I read the book and got deeply into this immediately. Everything made so much sense to me. I read the book cover to cover OFTEN! I have read it 17 times now and am on my 18th reading. I get volumes out of it each time. I avoid wheat, grains, gluten, bad fats, all forms of sugar (eat very few veggies and even less fruit), and will avoid all of them any way I can as my brain now responds to the sight or mention of them with a big warning sign – “POISON”. As a true carbaholic and sweets fiend, this was no easy task but was worth my dedication to the plan!
Here I am, 2 ½ years later. I’m so healthy it scares people. They can’t believe I’m 66. I’m active, happy, feel better than at any other time in my life. I will always praise the day I watched the Dr.’s program and be ever grateful to him for making me into a productive senior citizen. I am not on any medications and have not even had a cold or any illnesses since I started the program. My only sweet additive is modest amounts of organic stevia. I didn’t just lose a whole person in fat, I gained my health and a healthy senior future!
