The Empowering Neurologist – David Perlmutter, MD and Robb Wolf

Today’s interview is with the New York Times best-selling author of The Paleo Solution, Robb Wolf. Robb is an interesting guy for sure. He is a former research biochemist and is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on nutrition. He has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world via his top-ranked iTunes podcast and wildly popular seminar series. He has functioned as a review editor for the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism and also serves on the Board of Directors of Specialty Health Medical Clinic in Reno, NV.

Robb has delivered seminars in nutrition and strength & conditioning to various entities including NASA, the Canadian Light Infantry, Naval Special Warfare, the United States Marine Corps, Twitter/Square and Microsoft.

His 2010 bestseller, The Paleo Solution, really jump started the whole paleo movement. Today, Robb focuses on his new book, Wired to Eat, which offers up a more personalized approach to determining what foods are best for optimizing health, but from an individualized perspective.

Very good presentation. I enjoyed it learning about “we are responsible for our own health without cheating.”

Dr. Perlmutter, I’ve heard you and many of your guests reiterate the need for good quantities of good quality sleep. As an RLS sufferer, I’d like to hear an interview with a sleep expert in this area. It is so difficult to sleep with legs that make one walk the floor until 2 or 3 AM. Most supplements are worthless to RLS people. Anything that affects GABA and/or dopamine receptors actually make RLS worse. I’m 70 and go to the gym several days a week for two to three hours, have lost 68 pounds with paleo/lower carb, and that has actually made the insomnia worse, contrary to what all the experts say should happen. I will not take sleeping pills. I’m not looking for medical advice from you, I’d just like to have additional resources for dealing with it. My doc offers pills if I should get that desperate. With your wide range of medical colleagues, could you offer an interview with one of them? Thank you for any information you can provide.
